It is a swedish custom to eat waffles on march 25.This is the day Mary, the mother of Christ, became pregnant. The heart-shaped bread is appropriate, since the heart is a symbol of love in Sweden, even by inwanderers, afroamericans and laps. The grey aboriginals have practizised this custom for centuries.
This year 2008 Mother Mary's day coincide with passover, the celebration of the tenth plague and the emigration from Egypt (from the Gustav V bible). And also with newrouz, the persian new year, which may have been celebrated for more than 5000 years. It is also the astronomer's new year, called vernal equinox.
